PUBLIC SAFETY AND THE ADHERENCE TO TRAFFIC CONTROLS
The Montreux Board of Directors has recently received inquiries and concerns regarding the lack of adherence of traffic control measures, specifically speed limit and stop signs, within Montreux. The Board would like to remind all residents, members, guests, construction, delivery personnel and employees that it is your responsibility to obey traffic control measures while driving within the streets of our community. All vehicles, including golf carts, are subject to the same traffic laws and rules of the road that are in place on public streets. In the interest of public safety, the prevention of accidents, injuries and property damage, it is hoped that individuals will comply voluntarily. Non-compliance with traffic regulations can result in assessments. Construction workers, delivery drivers and employees may lose the privilege to drive on Montreux streets for unsafe driving.
Section 41 of the Montreux C C & R’s requires that all individuals obey signs and speed limits while on property. The Security Department will be stepping up its enforcement within Montreux. First time offenders will be sent a warning letter and repeat offenders will be subject to assessments by the Montreux Homeowners Association. If the offender is a construction worker, delivery driver or employee they will receive one warning. Any subsequent violation will result in a suspension of driving privileges within Montreux.
Traffic safety and the adherence to traffic laws is a concern and are the responsibility of all of us that live, recreate and work in Montreux. The needless tragedy of traffic accidents resulting in death, injury, property loss and litigation can be prevented.
The Montreux Board of Director asks that you drive safely and obey all posted traffic signs. The Board thanks you for your cooperation and understanding.

Board President
U.S. Forest Service Fuels Management personnel will be burning small piles of brush and woody debris in the Whites Creek drainage. The objectives of this burn project is to reduce wildfire risk and enhance forest and wildlife habitat. It is anticipated that this work will be accomplished over the next 90 days; however, it may be postponed if weather, fuels, and or smoke dispersal are not within prescribed limits.
The Whites Creek trail may be temporarily closed during burning operations.
Residents and travelers should expect to see and smell smoke from the prescribed fire.

To all Montreux Home Owners a Bear was caught by Department of Wildlife Biologist at approximately 3 PM.
The Bear was sedated by the Game Warden, and loaded into a Bear Trap. The Bear will be relocated off property.
Montreux Security would like to Caution all Home Owners that a bear has made entry into a home in Montreux. There was extensive damage to the interior of the home. Department of Wildlife will be setting a trap for the bear in Montreux. Until the bear is caught it is advised that all Home Owners insure that all doors into your residence are closed and
locked at all times.
Note: Security has Department of Wildlife information for Home Owners " Living with Bears in Nevada" if any Home Owners desires one.
Montreux Security wants to alert Montreux Residents and employees of bear sightings within Montreux. To help prevent future visits by bears, all outside food sources should be eliminated. No garbage put out until the morning of garbage pickup, no feeding pets outside, no accessible bird feeders, all garbage bin lids closed after each use. When bears become habituated on human or pet food, the bears lose because that's when they get into trouble.
The only reason the bear has wandered into your area is because he/she smells food. If people see a bear they need to give it space, make lots of noise, and look big while getting to a safe place. Most black bears (which do come in lots of other colors!) are shy and will run if you just clap your hands and do a little shouting. That said, they are still wild animals and could be dangerous if they are after food.
It's entirely possible that you won't see the bear again. On the other hand, IF there is food outside somewhere, you can be sure he/she will be back.
We thought it might be helpful for us to know what to do with a bear if we need to protect ourselves.
The scheduled road maintenance slated for the week of June 18th has been moved to the week of June 25th.
Champetre Court and Alpes Way will have a slurry coat applied on Monday, June 25th. There will be traffic control in that area.
Tuesday and Wednesday, June 26th and 27th areas of Bordeaux Drive will have a slurry coat applied to those areas that were not done properly during last years application. There will be traffic control throughout the day.
On Thursday and Friday, June 28th and 29th, possibly Monday, July 2nd Lausanne and the upper part of Lake Geneva Drive will have a slurry coat applied. There will be traffic control throughout the day.
This work is necessary as it protects the streets and adds life to the asphalt. This is a yearly maintenance item as all streets are on a four year cycle for a slurry coat.
