Patrolling Your Community

The Montreux Security vehicle is a familiar site to residents and Club members as it patrols the roadways and perimeter areas of our community. To enhance our effectiveness in creating a more private, secure, and exclusive community, Montreux Security officers perform vehicular patrol of the property and its perimeter as well as perform Gatehouse duties.

Vehicle patrol is one of the more important aspects of our security operation. Patrolling an area brings more persons, vehicles, objects, hazards, and incidents under scrutiny of security personnel than could possibly be covered if Security remained fixed within the Gatehouse and Construction Gate Security Post. Effective patrol better protects persons and property, prevents accidents, damage, construction thefts, vehicle tampering, and serves as a deterrent to unauthorized entry, general theft, vandalism, and burglary. Patrol provides communication to our community and is a source of information for residents, members, employees, and management. Vehicle patrol also enables Security to provide traffic control and assist allied agencies, such as fire, police, and medical, when they respond to Montreux.

The duties of our security personnel while on patrol include observation, knowledge, corrective action, and reporting. Observation involves knowing the area, residents, employees, and routine activities to the extent that one can recognize when something is amiss. Knowledge of the entrances, exits, emergency equipment available, and communications will allow effective responses as needed. Corrective actions may include security personnel actively becoming an instrument of correction or initiating what needs correction, such as reporting a situation or problem.

If you have any questions or suggestions regarding our patrol procedures or any other aspect of your security operation, please don’t hesitate to contact Pete Christoffersen, Director of Security, at the gatehouse, 849-9780 or e-mail pete@montreuxgolf.com.

Evacuation Drill, May 16, 2009

On May 16, 2009 the Sierra Fire Protection District (SFPD) and associated civil emergency authorities will be conducting an emergency evacuation drill in cooperation with Montreux, St. James, Galena, and Callahan Ranch communities. The drill will commence at at 9:00 AM and proceed through an established notification and escalation procedure for residents of St. James, Callahan Ranch, and Galena. Montreux homeowner participation in this drill is voluntary. The drill will employ a "reverse 911" calling process initiated by SFPD. Some residents of Montreux may receive an unintentional call that will identify itself as a drill and practice evacuation. Again, Montreux homeowner participation in this drill is voluntary. Selected St. James, Galena, and Callahan Ranch residents will be directed to evacuate through Montreux and exit through an established emergency gate and the main entry and subsequently, onto Mt. Rose Highway. A staging area has been set up for evacuees that will include information and displays at Galena High School. Montreux Security and SFPD personnel will actively monitor all Montreux gates and routes within our community during this drill. Temporary evacuation route signs will be posted during the morning of this drill. Additional information is available at www.sierra-rapidfire.org
